Bertie's 101

The Early Bird Catches the Worm: wise saying or an age-old cautionary adage that contributes to sub-optimal Nash equilibrium outcomes?

Think about it, if we could all agree to let the worms squirm around a little longer, they might just injest more food, get fatter, and when we arise at say about noon, it'd be a magnificent feast.

But along comes this derisive tale that advises the average bird to go out there and get his first pickings. So to avoid losing out, we are all forced to rise early in order to ensure some sliver of food for ourselves.

where's the wisdom in that?
